| thanks for the input .......i think the solution may lie with the method feeder and a heap of prebaiting ......either that or huge pva bags/sticks........and heaps of prebaiting anyone got a suggestion for getting said balls of groundbait out there? , the catty is next to useless ........anyone tried a goundbait sling ? |

| buddi there is a catty for balls of ground bait. its the job, plenty of distance with them too. ground bait needs to be just right though. wet your hands before making up the balls of ground bait, will help keep it together during the flight. try mixing some egg with the groundbait to help hold it together while its dropping through such deep water. |

| I saw a Pult last weekend that goes on to the back of a trailer and it can put out balls of bait over 120 yards, but there should not be any need for it Buddi. If the lake is very deep you should find the carp in the shallows this time of year . what size is the lake ? _________________ I don't believe in any old Jesus, If there was a God. | The lake in Question is Loughall it is really deep all over with really really really deep margins. I would go on the basis that the carp are well use to the deep water and have no hesitation putting their heads down. There are a few small features to be found, the obvious features are the crannogh and the end bay, they are at opposite ends which gives you good scope, with the wind blowing in either direction the carp will follow especially on a big water like this. The amount of small fish would make me stay clear of pellet and groundbait perhaps small sticks and lots of big boillie these are big fish remember big mouths. As for the zig approach of which I am a massive fan, use a sub float set up when leaders start getting to long to land em, and try condensed milk and crushed hemp, with small black foam hookbaits soaked in milk, the milk on the foam makes a lasting cloud masking the hook but showing up like a light bulb. The most important thing as always is locating them and baiting, only time on the bank will give you there location then the rest will come I suppose or at least thats the theory good luck. |

| yeah AL the margins are super deep even up in the bay , i was leading around the other day and and the margins seem to be around 18ft right at the edge . i have been using a thowing stick and spod to put out some bait , mostly boilie , large pellet and maples . The other problem is day angling only , no overnighting on it yet , and i would be reluctant to guest there as nicas were warned not to . |

| I've heard of people freezing their groundbait balls and leaving it thaw for a few hours before going fishing. It'll work if you're doing sessions but not if you're there for shorter periods. Small dinghy or a spod is about all I'll come up with for mass baiting unless you fancy the baitboat and a few spare batteries. _________________ "82% of Corkonians believe they are the chosen ones while 18% believe they are the ones who'll do the choosing".
