no its a "keeper stringer " mostly used by the yanks for keeping fish alive before dining !! In through the gill out through the mouth .

I have seen fish that were going to go back alive being retained by these but it's like some thing out oof the dark ages and should not be used in this day and age.

Thats right tom , its a loop on one end and straight line on the other , straight line through the gill then through the loop , a lassoo if you like the more the fish tries to swim off the tighter this contraption gets , a bloody hangmans noose for fish WTF is that .. Icon_evil

Used to be used for pike.But it tears the shite out of the gill rakers,so it was banned in uk.Its a popular method of transporting your dead catch of trout in the US.
