| I'm on the look out for a flatscreen for christmas so what should I be looking for in a good one. I have about 800/1000 euro for it and a 32 inch should be big enough. | |

| PM Damo. He advised me to go with an LCD if under 40" and Plasma if above the 40" mark. A mate of mine at work got in a 37 from Pixmania for 999 bucks. I just had a quick look and they have a 32" LG for 630. http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/638414/art/lg/32lc41-lcd-television.html | |

| If u want pure quality it is plasma....the colour definition is better by far.....panasonic are ahead of everyone in the flat pannel market.......better than Sony...but very expensive............ | |

| Panasonic are the dogs wotsits. But their after sales service isn't great as parts are often not in stock.Plasmas are the best..you can get a 42 inch Phillips for £699 with 3year warranty or a 42 inch Samsung with built in freeview for £749 in any Euronics shops. | |

| The best quality plasmas are LG's with Panasonic a close seccond. Personally I would not touch a plasma and would go for an LCD, being in the pub game I have heard a lot about flat screens over the past few years. | |

| measure the size of the room your tv will be positioned in.When you go to view the tv sit at that distance and from different angles play about with the frame size to ie widescreen, superwide or 4:3 the company selling the tv will quote a certain resoloution but perhaps the frame size you use is not best? I still say panasonic they manufacter all there own parts and last forever. | |

| Sorry to have to disagree with you Niall....nuffin new there then but..........LG are at the low end market of flat pannels where as Panasonic are at the high end....and according to all in the industry they are the top of the market leaders by far....... Which magazine have awarded panasonic their top spot over everything else since day one.....beating sony and pioneer everytime. Lcds are good up to 32inches but if you are going higher they tend to pixilate to much and suffer from ghosting and colour bleed.....isn't it funny that panasonic have refused to bow to public pressure and build any lcd over 32inches...after that its plasma all the way....lcd doesn't come close to picture quality of a plasma and anyone tell u it does hasnt studied the subject v.much. U need to look at a few things when buying ..... what is the contrast ratio......anything below 8000:1 will be fairly grainy on a big screen/37inches and above.......but u will pay dearly for those specs also hd or hdy ready...there is a difference....hd scans every line and hd ready scan every other line.....most peeps would'nt see any visual difference to the picture but if you are a techy and love ur movies and plan to use blue ray or hdd....then it may be an issue....... also to get ur best out of ur set u shud use a hdmi cable....not a scart and if u do use a scart u shud be spending about 70 yoyos on one...which can be quite expensive if u need more than one scart lead food for thought | |
