| I dont know yet.... anyone any suggestions for somewhere close to Calais and the possibility of beating my PB of 44lb. Also i think i might go onmy own this year to have a peaceful holiday so i need to be able to book a swim and not the lake. Anyone ever fish the public waters? I really want to wet my lines at chantecoq |

| From Calais you may as well travel a few hours down to the Champagne region, 300+ lakes, anything from puddles stocked yesterday to the Lac du Der, depending on what floats your boat...............and how you class a 40. | |

| It will cost you €220 for a swim on chanty for the week.Better off hitting one less known public waters or if you have a couple of weeks to spare hit the orient. | |

| AJ I would love to spend 2 weeks on the orient rocking back a forth, didnt realise that the ticket for chantecoq was so expensive. - Quote :
- and how you class a 40
usually the way i do this is when the needle on the dial goes over 40lb - the weight of the sling. How do you class a 40? Damo the 44 pb was from a commerical french fishery somthing similar to Maynooth so i would be looking for somthing that gives me a chance. When i say close to Calias i mean within 5 hours drive of the ports. AJ, yourself and Gordon had some luvly looking frenchies this summer, would recommend Moulin Rouge? |

I think there is a little more achiement when its not stocked a few weeks before you plonk a boilie in the water, much rather a river 30 to be honest. | |

| Gordon that sounds great.... is Moulin Rouge the correct name or did you just go off for a dirty weekend? Damo I have to work hard (and enjoy it) for what fish i catch here in Ireland, its nice to not have to work so hard when you go on holiday. Did you not get away yourself this year to commerical fishery? do you not enjoy getting away with a decent chance of catching a 30lb + fish from a commerical fishery? We are in Ireland and in the majority of our waters we have to work hard for a 12lb carp so i think we are entitled to a bit of self indulgence once a year for a week. I am under no illusion that i was fishing a commerical, so what? But on the other hand I still want to hit a few french public waters before my mortal coil is servered and catch few 5lbers or 50lbers as thats a personal goal. |
