| I had Spain for the Euros last time and they came good. I think they are stronger this time round too, Italy are past it, France are past it, Germany aren't the threat they once were, Argentina are in a bit of disarray, Carlos Alberto (World Cup winning Captain in 1970) came out and said Brazil haven't a hope due to poor quality this time around. England will make a hash of it although I do wish them well, I watch their football every week so I'm not going to go against them for a big tournament. I don't fancy Portugal either (0-0 against Cape Verde the other night). I'm going to have a sneaky outside bet on Holland although Robben got injured the other night also.
I cannot see past Spain to be honest. They have some incredible talent allover the pitch in the current generation, Alonso, Fabregas and Xavi in the middle, scary stuff. 4/1 at the moment, Lump on!!!

| my heart is over ruling my head(yet again)thats why i stay away from bookies,i would love england to win it,but yet again postman pat(capello)has made a hash of his picking of players, what does he see in heskey,he is old can not last 90 mins, has not played a great deal of games last season, darren bent has scored 25 league goals last season, who would you rather take??he takes warnock in stead of baines, baines is a far better player going forward then warnock,he takes rio when he has not played well last season he is not a great centre half any way,he has not played well in a england shirt for donkey years, has not took part in major torneys for several years,he is another sick note.gerrard as captain dont think so,postman pat should just give it back to john terry, what goes on in someones private life is nothing to do with football,so maybe the se,mis for england, but a funny feeling it should be the year for england, beating brazil in the finals. | |

Not to mention Torres up front .... typical MU fan .... [/quote] Sorry Ray, Herself up front kinda went without saying. And David Villa! Frightening attacking options too, if only their defence can hold firm, I was never a fan of Puyol or Ramos. Casillas is a dinger though.

| Would love to see Argentina do well. Maradonna is takin a lot of stick and probably a lot of coke but think they could do some damage. Handlin the ball into the net is all the rage again so he'll probably have them practicing that. He is the master of it after all. | |

| its going to be a hard one to call. yes spain have a good team on paper but the nerve to go all the way??? i think brazil look solid enough.. argentina have some fab players but that clown in charge??... england same old story good individual players but as a team?? not settled only last week still chopping and changing..that team should be picking itself by now without any doubts as to who plays...what is heskey going to the world cup for?? italy wont be too far away they never are..for me its brazil, spain or argentina, the rest are second division and i would be suprised if france, italy england, netherlands actually went on to win it, the ivory coat could pull off a few suprises along the way. | |

| Spain to win. England to lose to france in the 1/4 Finals! Have Argentina in the work sweep...not a bad draw...had Italy last time Rooney is going to be hilarious with everyone trying to wind him up now. P.S. I'm a Man U fan. | |

Rooney is going to be hilarious with everyone trying to wind him up now. P.S. I'm a Man U fan. i think spain could have a tough route to the final they could get italy in the quarter finals then Argentina in semis i think? its all about getting to the final anything can happen then.

| Think Holland could go far aswell. If Roben get fit enough then they will have a serious attacking force. Weak enough at the back though. | |

| Dear God! England were very very poor tonight. Very little chances created, no midfield again, dodgy keeper. When are they going to give Hart a chance??, far better keeper I feel that James or Green. | |

paulc you are correct in england being poor, heskey should of scored, wright phillips had another good chance, postman pat (capello )should of took darren bent and played joe cole instead of milner or wright phillips, and i agree give joe hart a chance.but on the positive side england drew their first game when they won the world cup,so maybe.!!!!!

| The World Cup is turning out like the second world war; The French surrendered early, The Yanks come in at the last minute, and England have to fight the jerries! | |

| Just Re-read this thread. Not far wrong at all, even about Torres up front Ray!! lol Tipped Spain to win and Holland for the outside bet. I should have put the money down on Holland when they were 10/1. Bugger!
Badly wrong about Germany though, they played some great stuff. Going to be very strong in Brazil in 2014 although as far as I know, nobody outside South America has won the tournament when it was held there. Uraguay won in 1950 held in Brazil, Brazil won in Chile in 62 and again in Mexico in 1970. Argentina won on home soil in 78 and in Mexico in 86. Hmmmm. Brazil or Argentina maybe.
