Fishing was slow, but the quality in 12acres is awesome. Weather changed from sunny/35degrees for the first 4 days to windy/overcast for the remainder of the week. I was lucky enough to play the 24-14c at midnight while a fantastic lightning storm lit up the entire sky, an event I will never forget.

From 12 acres at JRC to 160 acres at Chateau, distance fishing and no boats/baitboats allowed. The number of 30s is incredible, with a few 40s and a handful of bigger. Weather was cloudy/windy most of the week, with 2 days of total downpour. Absolutely stunning venue, about as close as you will get to wild fishing. Landed 4 fish in an hour- quite enjoyable.

Total admiration for Colin at the Chateau, who had to wade 100 yds to cast each rod, every day, at least twice a day, and who spent 45mins in the lake to land a 30+ common with a mozi bite on his arm that made him look like popeye.
Big thanks to Vinny for supplying and driving the van with all the gear, and for not having any major disasterous events for the entire two weeks. Thanks to Noel, for taking some excellent photographs, for lifting the 60 out the lake, for demonstrating the reason why you should always use forceps (he had to pull out a deep embedded size 6 from his thumb, a sight that would have made Chuck Norris faint), and for being a casting monster.
Biggest hats off to Damo, for organising the entire trip and bait.
As for the 62, I think that all you can do is fish for the runs, and wether its a double or a 60 is complete luck. I can remember the reubons going round twice and nearly wetting myself. I will never lift a carp of such size out of the water again, as it is so much more a pleasant experience than lifting on the mat for both angler and fish. Having said that, she was a one off.
All in all for a first trip to France it was quite good.
