how to catch a a proper sneeky rat

Lads iam having an awful time trying to catch a dirty rat that has gone to ground and i have spent hrs and hrs looking for his bolt hole and cant find it.i cant wait to catch this fu...er and crush him. he is eating away at my stuff slowly ......any help and he knows how to avoid :traps

Sounds like a real brainy bugger,play him at his own game.If he has a taste for pellet,crush some up with a block of poison.But dont make it easy for him to get at it.put it in an old tupperware box with the lid on.But put it where it can be found.Put some small holes in the lid.It wont take him long to find it,but it wont be free,he'll go all out to get in the box.And it will be goodnight vienna when he does.

Had this problem a few years back and someone told me to get burned engine oil and pour it near or on one of the rat runs, the idea is that the rat gets oil on its coat and then goes back to the nest and covers nest in oil and because rats are either eating or preening themselves the rest of the rat family move on and no more rats. This worked for me I havent seen a rat near shed in years.

I use honey on our traps. Works better than any other attractant for me.
Caught 5 so far that had decimated all the hyperlon on my rod handles and chewed through my nets
Not seen any sign now for a week or so

Now that i have a few ideas how to catch the furry ones.how do a catch two legged ones

I cleaned out the shed with a skip last week and found that a rat has been munching away on bags or pellets and dog food for months (you wouldnt believe the amount of rat droppings). I bought a tub of shark poison pellets and fed them for 5 days. Giving 3 large pellets each day. After 5 days the rat was dead and added to the skip.

I bought 2 heavy duty plastic barrels last year down the market,with lids that spring coil close.Havent met anything yet that can get into them.Best 20 euros ive spent in a long time.

New wheelie bin got about 50kg of bait put in tuff plastic so should be ok my cats are back aswell so if the fuckers stay around it woulf be a great help
