| I know some of ye are off to this lake next year so I said I'd put this up.It is robbed off the angling lines web site.
The Island Lake saw the stocking of 30 new fish, half commons and half mirrors, on Wednesday 12th December, 2006. Owners Tom, George and bailiff Mick Hall were present to witness the stocking and Angling Lines were there with the video camera to film the event.
The fish, supplied by Horton Pisciculture, weighed from 29lb 4oz to 39lb 6oz… with 25 fish over 30lb, of which 10 were over 35lb.
This represents a fabulous addition to the already impressive stocks in this picturesque and well appointed gravel pit fishery. Here is the list of weights:
1. 31lb 6oz C 2. 33lb 8oz 3. 39lb 6oz 4. 33lb 4oz C 5. 33lb 8oz C 6. 39lb 6oz C 7. 31lb 8oz 8. 33lb 4oz 9. 35lb 2oz C 10. 31lb 2oz 11. 37lb 4oz C 12. 29lb 9oz C 13. 29lb 11oz C 14. 33lb C 15. 38lb 3oz C 16. 38lb 3oz C 17. 31lb 8oz 18. 38lb 8oz C 19. 33lb 8oz 20. 36lb 10oz 21. 35lb 2oz 22. 30lb 3oz C 23. 37lb 4oz 24. 32lb 6oz C 25. 29lb 10oz 26. 30lb 8oz C 27. 29lb 4oz 28. 31lb 6oz 29. 29lb 5oz 30. 34lb 8oz | |

| These following fish were also stocked into there during November: Carp of 37.05, 38.12, 41.02, 43.10, 41.06, 44.00, 45.07 were stocked into the lake this week. More fish will follow in the next few weeks. These on top of the 30 listed above should hopefully give us a good weeks fishing in April. I'm praying we get there pre-spawning so that they are at their max weight which will give the group a good shot at a forty or dare I say, a fifty. Video of stocking here: http://www.anglinglines.com/docs/videozone/island2/index.html Carpworld Article included on webpage for lake also states: In addition to the original stock of unknown quantity, a further 200 carp were added, of which 27 were over 40lb, 86 over 30lb and the remaining few were upper-20s. The current lake record mirror is just under 50lb, however the biggest were caught in the summer months. It is quite likely that that particular fish, and several others, will now be surpassing the magical 50lb mark. It is estimated that at present there are possibly seven that will topple the current lake record. On an average week a number of different 40s would grace the banks with many high-30lb backup fish. At present you are much more likely to land a good 30 or 40- pounder than any other size. Additionally, this winter sees the introduction of another 40 carp, all of which will be above 40lb. With this number of 40lb+ fish, Island Lake is a very good big-fish venue and one that is set to become very well known in the coming years! I think they over estimated the stocking of 40 carp over 40 but there 30 30lbers stocked should be mid-thirties at least by spawning time so they're definitely worth catching. Come on April!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | |

| Cop on, there could be children reading this. For God's sake, we get a topic of interest going and you have to drag it down into the gutter with your filth. P.S. How are your Buttgrips?

| Absolutely fantastic week for everyone over there. It may look like an easy water by the figures that Niall posted above but there was a lot of bloody hard work done to find out the fish's patrol routes through the weed beds and potential pick-up spots in the clear areas. A lot of us were spending at least an hour a day out in the boats looking about and trying to narrow down the spots where the fish might take the bait. Before leaving Richard had a look in the log book and our week's fishing was right up there with some of the best catches in the last three years since opening. Richard had mentioned to the bailiff that the target was 40 fish for the week which he thought was very unlikely but we managed in on the last morning with 4 being caught overnight. I think the lake itself has a huge future once the word gets around as the fish stock and quality really is very special. It's safe to say that a return trip is on the cards either later this year or early next year. A great time was had by all, good bunch of lads to be on a trip with. Once again, big thanks to Tommy the superchef and special thanks to Mick Hall the bailiff who really was second to none in his helping out some of us. Sound chap, hope to see him again fairly soon on the bank there. Pics are up in the gallery showing the stamp of the fish there. https://carpfishingireland.editboard.com/gallery/Non-Irish-Carp/Island-Lake/Island-Lake-cat_c44.htmlOnce again, stunning venue with a stunning stock of good fish which are young and will be piling on the weight in the next year or two. | |
